Mare Conformation Assessment

The conformation assessment is designed to consider the mare's build against the breeder's goals. In doing so, the report provided highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the mare and details the required conformational strengths of a stallion to support the breeder in achieving their objective in breeding.

Conformation Assessment Details

This conformation assessment is not designed to act in anyway as a veterinary assessment but rather to compare the mare's physical build against those most desirable for the breeder's chosen breed or discipline. Traits included in the conformation assessment include:

  • Overall frame of horse

  • Head shape and proportion

  • Throat latch

  • Neck top line muscling and length proportional

  • Wither size, definition and connection to back

  • Shoulder size and slope angle

  • Body size, direction and proportions

  • Back shape, length and proportionality to neck, leg and loins

  • Croup length

  • Leg length, straigtness and joint angles

  • Hoof shape, length and connection to leg
